Trans Jogja
A new kind of transportation had been arriving Jogja city. It’s called the Trans Jogja. It is a bus and has a similar kind like the Trans Jakarta Bus, for example the shelter, the bus which its door has higher level and opened by hydrolic pump, the AC, and how the seats are set face to face (even though Trans Jogja bus is smaller than Trans Jakarta). Compared to Trans Jakarta or sometimes called bus way (the bus which has its own way), this Trans Jogja doesn’t have its own road. Going to its route, the bus mixes with other vehicles.
This model of transportation has made some experts difficult to believe that this model can reduce the high level of traffic in Jogja (read it: there is a lot of car and much more of motor bikes on the street which must be reduced). Well, one of the aims why the government decided to realize this project is to reduce the high level of vehicle in Yogyakarta’s street by making a good mass transportation so that people will change the way their transport to another place, therefore government can rearrange this city transportation system.
How ever I like this way of transportation because this way is connecting a lot of important place in Yogyakarta. For example, now I can go to Prambanan Temple (one of the exciting tourist resort in Yogyakarta Province) by this bus which it has better condition than the older transportation even tough a had to walk further more to reach the temple.
After having some delay this bus has its trial time on February 18 to February 24, 2008. At this trial time, the buses were tested for the proper and less that happen along the trial time. Well, at this trial time this bus’s ticket price is only IDR 1000. And by the end of this time the bus ticket price was going to normal price which is IDR 3000. At the trial time, a lot of people tried this bus, so everyday the bus almost full amount of people standing and sitting. But when the trial time finish this bus has little amount of people but the chair is not empty at all. There is still almost the chair fulfilled by people.
Humph…., AC’s cold air, no smoke of cigarette, better smell of the perfume presence, the comfortable condition appeared when I used this bus. It gave me feeling that this bus was different than another city bus. Its wide window could show better way of looking around. That is what I felt when I tried this bus at the first time a couple days ago. I tried on Sunday, February, 24, 2008 in the trial time so I try it in the morning when the amount of people is little. But when it was getting noon a lot people using this bus so when I try to come back home I must stand up and hang on the bus holder. Well, felt ungood now……. Hahaha.
Before I ride this bus I must paid the ticket at the cashier. These tickets have 3 kinds. First is the single trip ticket, the second one is regular ticket and the third one is student ticket. Single Trip Ticket refers to a ticket for only one pass and priced IDR 3000 every ticket. Regular Ticket refers to a ticket not only for one trip, priced IDR 2700 every trip. It’s a reload ticket. The last one is student ticket refer to a ticket for student’s school, priced IDR 2000 every trip. It’s only sold across the school. And of course I bought the Single Trip Ticket.
At the second time, I used this bus going to Prambanan Temple with some of my friend. We started from Panti Rapih Hospital’s shelter, and then we rode on 1B route to reach this temple by passing approximately 10 shelters. Well, it’s a long way to get there. It was almost one and a half hours until we got to Prambanan Bus Station’s shelter. And also we still had to have longer walk on foot. Tired…. But this long foot walk was paid by a lot of fun time we spent in Prambanan tourist spot. Hahaha……..
In every shelter there will be at least 2 people who work as a ticket cashier and the other one as shelter guidance. This ticket cashier isn’t only selling the ticket but also as informant of the bus route so the passenger will have a good path reaching their place to go. First, they ask passenger where they are going to and than they tell some better route. The shelter guidance will help the passenger as they are going to in the bus so any accident can be minimalized. And if there is still more person he must be the security person. In the bus, there are always 2 employees who work as the driver and the other as the driver’s assistant. Driver, hmm, as usual are driving the bus. One thing that makes me so interesting to this bus is the driver’s assistant job. Well, in the old way of mass transportation, the driver’s assistant works to helps passenger get the right direction to the place where they are going to and also to attract passenger by saying the place where the vehicle going to so passenger will come in the vehicle. For example, if the vehicle going to Malioboro, the driver’s assistant will say, “Malioboro…… Malioboro……” And so the passenger will know where this vehicle is going to and if they are going to Malioboro too, they will stop this vehicle and join in this vehicle.
Hmm, at this new mode the driver’s assistant still have to inform where the next shelter is this bus stopping. But the way they said it it’s a nice thing to talk. I had felt a lot of bus and also every driver’s assistant bus has their own way to say this thing. The most polite one said,” Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen, we are going to stop at Ambarukmo Plaza Shelter. If you will come out at this shelter, Please recheck your things if there is something left behind.” And the standard way they said,” Ambarukmo Plaza Shelter” And they repeat it every time the bus closing the next shelter. Some time I heard joking come out when the staff seeing each other about this way of talking. They joke this word like the old mode, they say, “Malioboro…… Malioboro……this bus is going to Malioboro”
That’s the story I have when I trying this bus. Well, this is fun and exciting.
Here are the bus routes. Let me inform you about the route.

I haven’t tried this one yet..
because no route brings me back home.
Anyway, I heard that not so long after its first trial, some properties had been found broken. I myself experienced this.. a broken ticket machine. Besides, newspaper stated that pick-pockets (am I using a proper word? hehe
) do ‘work’ here.
Why things aren’t going on well in this country? ugh.
